Tammy

Hi Scott,

My name is Tammy, nice to meet you. I found you on Twitter and am following you. :) I'm an Internet marketer, article marketer, and ghostwriter.

I was wondering if you had an affiliate program to sell your books (ebooks). What about ebooks including affiliate links embedded to give away free on my websites?

I have RT a few of your tweets and looking forward to networking with you more.

Have an awesome day. Thank you,
Tammy

Scott Fox, eRiches 2.0 and Internet Riches Author

Hi Tammy - No affiliate program yet, but we do get lots of requests.
Thanks for your interest!

Ivee Olivares

Hi Scott,

I bought your first book, "Internet Riches", and loved it. I'd been looking for a way to get out of my job, and you made it seem so possible. So I visited your website. Subscribed to your newsletter. And listened to your podcasts, which are excellent, by the way.

Then I came across the interview with Dr. Ken Evoy of Site Build It. After spending some time investigating SBI, I purchased it in March 2009. It's been a year, and although I'm only starting to monetize now (I have to find time in between work and other commitments.), I am slowly gaining traffic. What's more, I can see the potential for someone like me to build a business without a lot of overhead. And the SBI community is so helpful for a first time website builder like me.

Anyway, I want to say thank you. I wouldn't have found out about SBI if it weren't for you. You opened my eyes to the possibilities of the net. And when I need inspiration, I keep coming back to your site to listen to more podcasts and read more of your articles. Maybe I will write you again next year and update you on my progress.

You are doing a fantastic job, Scott. I want you to know that I appreciate all you've done.

Best Regards,
Ivee Olivares

Hello Ivee,
Thanks for visiting and all of your kind words.
I'm happy to hear my work has been so helpful to you! Please do come back and update me on your progress any time.

Bob Scher

Hi Scott,

Please feel free to remove anything here that smacks of selling. That's not my aim in this post. I wanted you to know where I am in the process.

I'm about to be a new social media guy and found your latest book most helpful! I create albums of piano improvisations and gave away about twenty. These are roughly 3-minute pieces that have beginnings, middles, and ends. Folks are putting them in their cars because everyone tells me that they make driving a joy. So I've put up five albums on CDBaby but haven't yet started any marketing. I do have a website and have posted samples there. Am also about to start blogging on "rediscovering melody," a subject about which I have much experience. The blog will include a "primer" for people who want to understand more about music creation.

Am trying to decide whether I should also be selling music from my website/blog (CDBaby also can sell and there's no exclusive.) If I do sell from my site, what e-commerce solution would you advise?

I know it's a small token in exchange for your generous and sound advice, but I'd like to send you an album. Where can I send?

Best wishes,
Bob

Scott Fox, eRiches 2.0 and Internet Riches Author

Hi Bob,
Welcome to the wonderful world of social media.

I'm glad that e-Riches 2.0 was helpful enough to inspire you to visit and comment here.

I think CD Baby is a fine solution for where you are at. In fact, I wouldn't worry about a fancier shopping cart for your own site until you are selling at least 20-30+ units/week.

Why? Because you need to create and drive demand for your CDs more than you need to make an extra $5 on a few sales/week.

If you can attract customers to the point where the profit margin difference between 3rd party sales/fulfillment (CD Baby) and your own solution starts to add up, THEN you can worry about upgrading.

For now, just link to CD Baby from your own site and work on attracting an audience.

First things first, as they say.

I hope that helps,
Scott Fox

Sue Kavelman

Hi Scott, I've just discovered you through a newsletter I get called Small Business Trends and feel like I've struck it rich! I can't wait to start exploring all your resources. I'm a complete novice at website building, etc., but am in the process of taking an e-commerce course online.
My question for you is: I've been contacted by a company in the UK wanting to place an advertisement on my webpage: www.clayburncomforts.com I haven't responded as I'm not sure if it's a wise thing to do. Some sites look so cluttered with all these adds that have nothing to do with the site I'm visiting, so I'd like your opinion please.

Scott Fox, eRiches 2.0 and Internet Riches Author

Hi Sue,
Great to have you here. I'm happy that my info and approach is so inspiring to you.

To me the answer to your question is a matter of price. Are they offering you enough to potentially distract your site visitors and maybe lose some sales?

I'd estimate the financial upside and downside impact of the ad placement and compare it to their offer to judge its worth to your site.

I hope that helps!

Jon Lee

Hey Scott,

Just about finished with E Riches 2.0. It has been VERY informative - both in pointing me in the direction of a second income, AND in helping me garner some skill in social media for my full time job.

I am also just about finished with an Ebook I would like to sell out right (as opposed to give a way as a premium or enticement). I secured the domain name I wanted through GoDaddy, and I was wondering, for a site just selling an eBook, whether or not the SBI route was a bit excessive, as it looks like it has features I would probably not need this time around.

Thanks,

Jon Lee

Scott Fox, eRiches 2.0 and Internet Riches Author

Hi Jon,
That's a good question. The answer depends on your marketing strategy.

If you are new to online marketing and SEO, then SBI can help you learn how to build the site to attract the most free traffic from search engines. That's very valuable and usually pays for itself.

However, if you have other ways to attract customers (like PPC ads maybe or a friend who has an extra Superbowl commercial to give you), SEO is likely not as important. In that case a simpler "sales brochure" type site would probably be fine.

I'm glad that e-Riches 2.0 has been so helpful to you. Please come by any time to update me on your progress!

Hi Scott - I would like to start an internet business using drop shipping so I don't have to inventory product. Can you share your thoughts and opinions on this? Thanks, DArcie

Scott Fox, eRiches 2.0 and Internet Riches Author

Hello Darcie,
I am not a big fan of dropshipping.
I explain why in this blog post:
http://www.scottfox.com/2009/12/dropshipping-is-not-the-answer.html

and in more detail in this free podcast, too:
http://www.scottfox.com/2010/05/new-podcast-dropshipping-mlm-direct-selling-online-marketing-privacy-celebriducks-contest-and-more-.html

If you still have questions about drop shipping after checking those out, please let me know.

Best,
Scott Fox

Darcie

Hi Scott - Thanks for the information on dropshipping. I reviewed your blog and listened to the free webcast. Very very helpful. I also have your book Internet Riches and find it also helpful. I have been trying to narrow my product and strategy down for a few months now and ready to go on the product/niche side and still need to work through strategy. I then thought about dropshipping however there are virtually no dropshippers for my product. Do I have any other options for selling the products without buying and keeping my own inventory? Thanks again, Darcie

Darcie

Hi Scott - Last question today. Can I post links from other sites to provide other FAQ type information etc within my website or are there laws that would prevent me from posting 'links' from other established sites within my page. Thanks, Darcie

Scott Fox, eRiches 2.0 and Internet Riches Author

Hi Darcie,
I would look at affiliate marketing. It's a close cousin of dropshipping and can actually be even less work for the entrepreneur.

Linking to other web sites is pretty well accepted legally these days. Don't copy too much, give credit where credit is due and you should be fine.

Have you checked out my ClickMillionaires.com coaching community yet? You can get questions like these answered 24/7 by me and a great community of fellow entrepreneurs. There's a free trial available at http://www.ClickMillionaires.com now, too.

This friendly group can be a GREAT help to early stage entrepreneurs like you.

Daniel Rappaport

Hello Scott,

First off, I would like to say that I have an incredible respect for you, your organization, and everyone that you list as examples in Internet Riches. I have the e-book, and am loving it! Thank you for writing it!

You know, normally I shy away from anything with the word "Millionaire" in the title, lol! However, your impeccable reviews on Amazon is why I decided to dig more. You go!

I am a very, very new netrepreneur, and am loving every minute of it!

Please, take a look at my blog here -

Pazzaria Educational Productions
http://www.pazzaria.org

I have created an XML sitemap, registered it with Bing, Yahoo, and Google, and am on my way to follow your advice with the Open Directory Project.

Of course, I want to receive as much income from my site as possible!

My focus is on entertainment education. I am teaching within nine different areas on my blog.

My focus is VERY unique, and I don't find too many blogs online that are doing the same.

My question is....

Am I on the right path? My Google AdSense is a whole $2.00, and that is just from me testing the links!

I have an online shop, where I have different sections for each of the nine areas - to suggest merchandise.

Basically, I need click through. I need people to come to my site, perhaps donate some money, click on my ads, and buy my stuff!!

How do I best get people to hang out, and participate? How do I become THE ONE online, to cause as much attention to myself as say - the trailer for the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie? O.K. - maybe not THAT much, but hopefully more than 20 visitors per day???

What's your GREAT advice?

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Daniel

Scott Fox, eRiches 2.0 and Internet Riches Author

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for all of your kind words. It sounds like you are off to a great start with a promising business model.

Your question is basically the subject of my entire second book.

Did you know that there is a sequel to Internet Riches?

It's called e-Riches 2.0: Next Generation Online Marketing Strategies and it's 24 chapters of just the kind of traffic-building info you're seeking.

(You might also come join us at ClickMillionaires.com if you'd like more personalized advice, too.)

Looking forward to updates on your progress!

Hello Scott,

Daniel here, from previous post...
Well, I am VERY impressed that you - such a well known author, is actually taking the time out to interact with your audience like this, on such a one to one level. Most authors could care less.

HUGE THANK YOU!!

I just, today, bought your e-Riches 2.0, and look forward to following it's direction.
Can't quite join ClickMillionaires.com yet, as I want to be sure I am able to afford that monthly charge, when the time comes.

Glad to see, while limited, I have a bit of a partner in crime, here!

I am a case of family and friends not believing in me, or giving me much help (partly because they have no clue about internet sales and marketing, or how it works).

So, you are, if not but on some small level, a friend.

I am glad for your services!

I look forward to the podcasts and newsletters!

Take care, and yes, I will keep you updated!

Daniel Rappaport

Hello Scott,

I was just curious to know....

If one has a donation PayPal link set up on their page, what is the best way to solicit for donations, without being too obnoxious about it through things like social networking, a newsletter, e-mail blasts, and such?

Thanks!

Scott Fox, eRiches 2.0 and Internet Riches Author

Hi Daniel,
I would start with the old favorite "what's in it for them?" and be nice. Beyond that I'm afraid I can't answer you very well without a lot more context.
The answers could be different in social networking vs. email, etc. depending on the relationships and expectations you have with each audience.

Daniel Rappaport

Hello Scott,
I have been a VERY diligent student, and have been listening to your radio show podcast. EXCELLENT STUFF!! Thank you for putting it out there! It is making a really good addition to both of your books, which I have on my iPhone!

In a recent post on here, you had asked me to update you on my progress. I would be more than glad to do so! In addition, perhaps you can spare a few moments to take a look at what I've got, and post up a few pointers here on how to make it better?

1) There's my blog - http://www.pazzaria.org. My focus with the blog is that I am teaching entertainment in nine different areas. Those being :
Concept Design and Development - Graphic Design - Merchandise Design - Motion Picture Editing - Motion Graphics - Audio (includes music composition, and sound design) - Writing - Photography - Technical Support. I am qualified to do this, because I have a degree in digital media from FIDM/The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, with over twenty years experience servicing clients in each of these areas, in the field.

I am using Blogger, and I really love it. As you can see, I have monetized with AdSense, and I have a small affiliate gadget with Amazon on there.

I have company pages on Facebook and Myspace, and a Twitter account.

I have done one AdWords campaign where I spent $100, and it lasted just a handful of days. It didn't really garner me much, but that was o.k., because I just wanted to get the word out there, around the world, and fast.

I understand that a key to my success really boils down to traffic -and the right kind of traffic.

My plan is to utilize the social network's groups and such as places to join the conversation, to get the word out there.

Of course, I also have a newsletter in development.

In terms of my donations, like you suggested - "What's in it for them?", I not only have a page that describes where their money is going to, but also have a tiered program in the works. Ex. - If you donate $10, you get a t-shirt. $20 - some kind of CD music set (since I compose music), etc...

I can easily create these things en masse using things like Zazzle, or CafePress.

Link exchanges are on the way for me. I am getting to that. :-D

So, that's pretty much my business!

I am taking it one step at a time (as anyone out there should!), in order to NOT get overwhelmed, and focus on each part, individually. When I have completed, say, a task with facebook, I move on to Myspace, and then focus on Myspace, until I get the results I want there.

What do you think?

Any good?

Please advise!

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Daniel L Rappaport

It looks like you are overwhelming the Comments format we have here, however. Have you considered joining us at ClickMillionaires.com? If you do, I (and friendly members from around the world) could give you a lot more feedback and support in the Click Millionaires Forum.

Hi Scott,

I bought and have listened to (twice) your book Internet Riches in audio format. I am keen to buy your new book too as you really inspire me.

My dream is to become successful on the internet, something I've dreamt of since I got my first computer connected to the internet 15 years ago. Over the years I have come up with many ideas, none successful but I have a burning feeling deep inside that I am destined to run an online business. I just don't know what in.

Do you know of any mentoring schemes? I feel I have so much to offer I just need help with direction. An apprenticeship in internet marketing would be great lol but I'm sure they don't exist.

Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Zoë

Do you have any reports/posts/advice/recommended vendors on the logistics of setting up a (paid) teleseminar?

I'm starting one in 6 weeks and am not sure where to start.

Scott_Fox

Hi Victoria,
Nice to hear from you.
Yes. The easiest way to run a paid teleseminar is to use FreeConferenceCall.com for the call itself.
And, you can set up billing for free using Paypal buttons. Then just email the private call-in number to each registrant who pays.
There are more expensive and sophisticated systems available but that's a DIY solution that will help you run a paid teleseminar for free.
You can always upgrade later.

Scott

Bryony Blyth

Hi Scott,
I am reading 'Internet Riches', which is very informative and inspiring.
I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere, but how do sites such as 'Facebook' make their money? Is it purely from the few advertisments on their site? Do these really produce a decent revenue?
Thanks
Bryony

Scott_Fox

Hi Bryony,

Yes, Facebook makes its money from advertising (at least so far).

It may seem like just a "few" ads to you but with hundreds of millions of members and billions of page views, those ads add up quickly to more than $2 billion/year in revenues already.

Best,
Scott

Laureta

Hello Scott:

First, I wanted to say thank you for the awsome job you did with both of your books. I bought them both and have learned a lot from them.

Second, I wondered if you could show me some example(s) of good and successful internet business that have targeted communitites based on their ethnic backgrounds. I just want to see if there is such an exmple (model) that I could probably emulate and create my own online business. I live in the States but I think I can create something useful for all other compatriots that live around the world, by just targeting our community with same ethnic background. If you have such an example(s)to share, I would greatly appreciate it.

Laureta

Scott_Fox

Hi Laureta,

Thanks for those kind words about my books. I'm very glad that they are helpful and inspiring to you.

I don't know of communities such as you are requesting but I'll guarantee that they are out there.

There's no doubt that what you are suggesting is a good idea but sorry I don't have the time to research it for you.

Have you tried searching on Google? You may need to try in the appropriate native languages also.

If you'd like help developing this idea further, come join the community at ClickMillionaires.com. We'll all be happy to help you and you'll see how I recommend you run such a community, too.

Keep me posted!
Best,
Scott

The name is a little bit the same, but the mission has changed. I am now in the business of producing animated feature films - family entertainment.

I would definitely invite you to please take a look at the drastic changes I have made, at the website.

Over the past week, or so, the rate of my hits, and facebook likes has dropped dramatically.

In either your first, or second book (I own both), could you please point me to some chapters that would assist with getting the word out there a bit more, about my company? I would be looking to do so specifically through facebook.

Also, I listen to your podcast from iTunes a lot. Sometimes, finding specific ones can be a bit of a challenge. Do you know which podcast numbers might assist in answering this a bit more?

Thank you so much!

Maria Crawford

Hi Scott, I read your book E-Riches 2.0 from beginning to end. Thanks for all the helpful tips! I am fairly new to the world of online marketing, in the field of support systems for the health industry.
I have a question regarding email marketing. In Chapter 6 of your book you discuss email-list building strategies. You have a section that spells out "What not to do to build your e-mail list", and among them you say not to email anybody without having their permission. Does this apply to a list of emails compiled from a publicly available database where individuals themselves have posted their emails for people to contact them (and also under the assumption that I will be using an email-management and publishing system vendor)? Many thanks!

Scott_Fox

Hi Maria,

Welcome! Glad that e-Riches 2.0 was so helpful to you.

The email list building strategy you describe is a gray area - both ethically and legally.

Collecting emails from the web is called "scraping". If you cruise a forum and grab a bunch of email addresses and then start emailing those people that is illegal in the US and commonly called spamming.

If you do the same thing but for a directory where people have deliberately posted their emails for sharing, then it's probably ok.

But don’t be surprised if a few of them complain when you start emailing them! (And watch out that your email service provider doesn’t ban you for importing scraped emails.)

I hope that helps.
Best,
Scott

Hi Scott

I got your first book from the library audio download website and loved it.It had so much information for me but I can not find your
e riches 2.0 in the library download? This is my only way to get your book, because I do not have any income to send at this time.

Thanks Debra

Scott_Fox

Hi Debra,

Thanks for your interest in my books.

e-Riches 2.0 has not yet been released in audio format. I hope to change that soon!

Toby Scammell

Scott,

I am a big fan of your blog and would be thrilled to hear your thoughts on my company's concept. I'm a co-founder and CEO of Womply and we just launched the simplest loyalty solution ever for small businesses. We call it Loyalty Cloud and here's how it works:

Merchants set an incentive for their loyal customers (ie Visit 3 times in a month and receive $25 cash back).

Customers pay at the merchant just like normal with their credit or debit cards.

Womply does the rest: we track customer progress toward rewards, push them credits, and measure performance to the dollar for merchants.

Loyalty Cloud involves no punch cards, no QR codes, and no mobile devices. Merchants don't need to train their staff or change their checkout process. Customers simply pay with their credit or debit cards and Womply handles everything in the cloud. In short, Loyalty Cloud puts merchants first.

We're working with over 100 merchants in Washington, DC--mostly restaurants and bars--and I'd love the opportunity to speak with you about why Loyalty Cloud is relevant to your SMB audience. In the next couple of weeks we'll be expanding to every city in the country--we already have merchants in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York.

I'm eager to discuss Womply with you. Would you be interested in speaking with me for 15 mins?

Best,

Toby Scammell

Scott Fox

Hi Toby,

Your company sounds like it has a good approach.

Prioritizing convenience (for both the merchant and the customer) is critical for success these days when everyone is so busy.

Much better than those stupid QR codes!

Thanks for visiting to say hello.
