This makes sense and I notice that you use your own name as your domain name. There's obviously an exception to this rule, or you wouldn't have used your own name as your domain name on this video. What is this exception?

Good point! There is a big exception to the domain name rule I spell out in the video above.
That exception is that it's okay to use your own name as your domain name when YOU are the product.
In my case, my web site/blog/newsletters and even my books are all based on my personal expertise. So "Scott Fox" IS my product.
In most MLM systems, you are selling a product or service created and produced by someone else.
So I recommend domain names that reflect that MLM product and that include relevant keywords that will help identify and promote your products as soon as a customers (and search engine bots) see it.
Great question. Thanks for pointing this out and visiting me here at ScottFox.com.

Don't you think that most people should have more than one domain name, one (at least!) for whatever the product/service/company they are selling and another one for their own name for branding themselves?

Hi Matt,
Sure, that makes sense. Different products do deserve different URLs.
Long term most people don't stay with one MLM company forever so having a site branded differently that is your "real" business as a backup makes sense.
But that suggests a split of your efforts into 2 channels, however, which may not be the best use of your time.
Thanks for visiting to comment.
