Don’t be Shy! How to Attract More Sales with Personal Endorsements

A strong and specific personal endorsement can help you sell more products.

Although high school English classes taught us all to write “objectively”, that kind of writing doesn’t attract clicks or online sales! If your audience trusts your opinion, they will be interested in what you recommend but only IF you make it interesting to read.

It’s obvious that you endorse your own products, so I’m talking here about actively endorsing any 3rd party or affiliate products you promote online. Even if your web site, blog, or emails are about antiques, car parts, medical advice, or sports, any online audience today contains potential customers for products/services outside of your own area of focus.

Don’t Be Shy
You should personally and publicly take a stand on products if you expect people to buy them. Step up and tell people of your personal involvement with and appreciation of the product. For example, title your page,  blog post, or email subject clearly as “My Recommendation” or “The Best Product”.

A strong personal endorsement catches readers’ attention. If they read your web site or blog, they’re presumably interested in what you have to say. So if you say something is the BEST for them, they’re likely to click to check it out. That’s the beginning of the customer engagement you need to make sales happen.

Personal Example
As an example, I not only recommend SBI but I wrote a whole special report about the Site Build It! web site building system. I titled the report “Site Build It! – The Best Instant Internet Business for You” - That leaves no doubt in your mind as to where I stand, does it? It also leads to more clicks and more sales, too.

Copywriting Tip: Be Specific 
Not only do you want to make a strong endorsement, you want to put your copywriting skills to work. Make your endorsement appeal to the specific needs of your selected market. For example, an endorsement that merely says “I recommend this product” is not likely to attract attention (or clicks!).

However, if you are strong, specific, and appeal to your audience’s personal interests, you might say something like this instead: “Can you believe that this product helped me put up a new web site that is attracting over 1000 visitors/day from free search engine traffic? I recommend it because it taught me how even my old school catering business could make $500 more every weekend.”

Which of those approaches do you think is going to attract more clicks…?

Stop using cold and impersonal language in your web site and email copywriting. Try colorfully and personally endorsing whatever third party products or affiliate offers you are promoting instead. This copywriting approach will help you more profitably get customer attention, and convert it into sales.

Social Media Mixer in Los Angeles

Lewis Howes was in town this week and brought a fun social media mixer event with him.

More than 200 of us had a great time Wednesday night mingling, networking, and meeting face-to-face with "connections" from LinkedIn and Twitter.
