Hi Scott,
I've read your book, also 4 Hr Work Week,Moonlighting on the Internet, and a few others. I've learned a lot from all of them. I really need to get moving in this business for financial reasons. I am suffering from information overload. Do you have a blueprint, short and direct, that you would suggest to someone who is just getting started. I don't even know what to sell at this point. I am currently in the mortgage business but would love to get out, so I really don't want to go that route. I live in a very rural area.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
THANKS!

Welcome Drew,
Sounds like you've been a busy reader. I'm a big fan of Tim Ferriss' 4HWW, too.
Info overload is a common problem in this space, I share it.
A good way to force yourself into a productive (and money-making) path is to use Site Build It. Their tools can help channel your enthusiasm better than any others that I have seen online.
There's a review and discussion of the Site Build It products here that may be helpful to you:
http://www.websitetoolreviews.com/2008/05/sitebuildit.html
It sounds like a combination of rural focus and mortgage industry expertise is a good place to start to me.
Best,
Scott

Hello Scott,
My business partner & I have a business that we hope you'll take a moment to check out at www.bootbop.com. We very much want to increase web sales, but as you mention, it feels very overwhelming. We recently subscribed to google, but even that set-up was guess work for us. We will go out and get your book. Any additional guidance you can give us would be extremely appreciated!
Thanks so much!

Hi Scott
I am reading your book at the moment, started yesterday and am loving every minute of it (I'm already half way through). My passion is photography and I would love to find a way to make it pay. I really want to work on my own time schedule so that I can spend more time doing the thing that I love. I am thinking of a information based website or maybe selling something connected to photography. I need to do something that I am passionate about. Still working on it, but hopefully I will soon come up with something brilliant.
I am sure that by the time I have finished your book, I will come up with something - it is very inspirational.
Thanks
Sarah

Hello Sarah,
Welcome! Glad to hear that Internet Riches is so inspiring to you.
Photography is a great hobby with strong potential online. One site I just discovered (thanks to another reader) is Imagekind.com. This looks like it might be useful if you intend to sell your prints.
Of course, there are many other ways to address the photography market. Darren Rowse's digital photography blog is a good example of one: http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/
Please keep us posted on your progress!

Hi Scott,
So presently I am putting together a website via Site build it (your excellent suggestion). It has taken me a number of months so far but I am looking forward as I go along. Site build it is a comprehensive web builder so there are tools built into it so that you are found through google, yahoo, etc. I haven't made a penny yet but I'm looking forward to that day. I think I have a good plan and hopefully it will come to fruition. Anyway I am learning as I go along and there are endless tools out there. Thanks again for your book which gave me some direction and may come in handy again as I progress.

Hi Scott,
Just read your book and am totally inspired to start a booming online business. I have been in retail for over 30 years as a buyer for a wholesale club and owned a sales rep firm. I am thinking that I want to sell branded basic consumables (Socks, Underware, lingerie) do you know of any good droppshippers that I could utilize? Thanks and I'll look forward to your response.

Looking for a way to get out of the Monday-Friday rat race.
Started my first online venture not too long ago www.vancouverhobbies.com but have discovered that stocking my house with product is not the best way to go about this!
Trying to figure out a smarter way.

Great to hear from you. Glad that you are making progress on your plan. Stick with it!
Thanks for your readership and attendance at my teleseminars and podcasts, too.

Welcome Marie,
Your retail background sounds like a great asset to have as an online business owner.
Dropshipping is an area that we are overdue to investigate - no solid recs there yet but I hope to get to it after the holidays.
Please stick around and share your enthusiasm and expertise with everyone, too.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for joining us.
Your site looks great. You have targeted a nice niche. Maybe affiliate programs would be a way to augment your inventory?
One suggestion: I'd add the phrase "remote control cars" to your web site in several prominent places. Many people (like me!) don't know what r/c means and therefore wouldn't use it in a search engine.
Adding "remote control cars" will help the site show up more in search engine listings for people who search for that phrase. (You might even consider changing your URL for similar reasons but that's obviously a bigger decision.)
Hope that's helpful.

I am here because I want to work from home. I want to be able to support myself and not have to worry about whether Social Security will see me to the end. I just purchased your book and can't wait to start reading it! I also just signed up for all your free stuff and can't wait to start diving into that also.
My question is this: I've been researching this for a couple of months now, and have questions. Do you have some sort of mentoring program?

Hello Scott,
Thanks for this opportunity! I am a 60yr old man who works for the State of Illinois. I started this position 2 years ago...after rehabilitation from a bad automobile accident that left me with among other injuries, a closed head injury.
I presently have no retirement savings, deeply in debt, and a small monthly salary take home of about $950 every 2 weeks!
I started to read your book "Instant Riches", and I started to have ideas of web sites that may prove productive.
My trouble is sqeezing the investment capital to establish a sound and effective online site. I signed up for your $14.95 monthly help site, and it looks like it could help me.
My problem is that I can easily get overwhelmed with information...and I cannot make up my mind as to which way to go! But I need to do something very soon as I need to pay off my home because there is a predatory lender holding the mortgage. Also, I am tired of the collection calls.
If I can attract $5000.00 per month I can see myself getting out of debt and quickly building a retirement nest egg! I am quite sure you have heard stories like mine many, many times! Lol
I would love to have you as my mentor... as I want to do the right thing and not waste anymore time. Again, thanks for the hope that you give to people like me!

Hello Scott! Looking for guidance here. I was forced to retire early last year due to a disability and suddenly widowed shortly thereafter. I read "Internet Riches" and have become covinced that affiliate marketing is the best way for me to generate some badly needed additional income without taxing me physically. A friend and I would also like to start a website aimed toward retired professionals and offering information, resources, and perhaps an online community or forum. We thought of initially funding it with affiliate marketing profits. Any of this sound feasible? Thanks. Love thi site.

Hi, Scott! Loved the "Internet Riches" book. It convinced me that affiliate marketing is my snswer. I was forced to retire early by a disability lst year and then suddenly widowed. I now need to generate some supplement income without taxing myself too much physically. A friend and I would also like to start a website aimed toward retired professionals seeking a forum, some information and resources and ideas for productivity after retirement. We believe we could fund it with affiliate market profits and then get it self-supporting through subscriptions perhaps. Sound feasible? We are total newbies to this process. Thanks.

Scott,
I'm hoping to build an online business and be my own boss! I'm frustrated with the Corporate World! I'm almost done with Internet Riches, which I found on Amazon. I haven't taken the first "plunge" yet, but hope to soon. Thanks!

Hello David, Candis, and Amanda.
Welcome to ScottFox.com. I'm very pleased that my work has been helpful and inspiring to you.
Yes, I think that online business, including affiliate marketing, can help you.
David - I hope that the Instant Internet Business Secrets subscription can help you. I'm doing my best to fill it full of actionable info to help folks like you who deserve a break. Thanks for being one of the early subscribers.
Candis - I would also recommend that you look at CWAHM.com. This site is highly targeted and has built a nice (and profitable) audience with an approach similar to the forum for retired professionals could take. I interviewed Jill Hart, founder of that site here:

I loved your (audio) book. I am ready to start my online business. I've done my product research, market research and more. My problem:
I need to find a web hosting company that has video feed capabilities (where I can post video tutorials/demos) also a company that has a way for customers to sign up for newsletters, etc. Since I can't afford a web designer and I've already had two basic web sites in the past, I think I can handle it if I can just find the right company. Any suggestions? When I do a comparison search on GOOGLE, I get many companies without those capabilites and end up emailing each one to find out what they offer. Some answers are unclear and it seems that the reps can't give definitive answers. I've spent a great deal of time on this and become more confused with each new query.
Do you have a suggestion for a company that will offer templates/video hosting capabilties/guestbook or sign up for emailings?
I don't have a website URL yet as you must know from my inquiry so in order to get this through, I'll put my ebay store which is completely unrelated to my new business.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Sincerely,
Dawn

Steve - Thanks for visiting. I'm glad that Internet Riches was so useful to you. Please keep us posted on your progress.
Dawn - I don't know if such hosting exists. I don't know what your budget is but you could accomplish most of what you describe with any web site by inserting videos hosted by YouTube (free) and collecting/publishing emails using Constant Contact, Feedblitz, or Aweber. That's where I would start rather than paying a big chunk of money to a specialized hosting provider.
Felix - Are you asking how to set up a survey online? This can be a great tool for learning what products most interest your customers. I recommend SurveyMonkey.com. It's very effective, easy to use, and cheap. See this post here for more details:

Hello Scott. My name is Michael, I live in a small town in Upper Michigan. I have an overwhelming desire to constantly better myself. I want more than anything to find a different career so that I can afford to give me and my family a better life. I am just very unsure about which direction to go. I currently work a dead end job in a paper mill. I would really like to start a business online but have no idea where to start or which direction to go. I have some ideas and some pretty lofty goals set for myself. I am hoping your book and website will be able to help me achieve them. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!! THANK YOU!!
Michael.

Hi scott,
Like everyone else here, i recently read your book and found it to be informative and inspiring. I was quite amazed at some of the stories of people that were able to find a small niche and make millions from it. Im currently working at home as a daytrader which leaves me time to pursue other ventures. I would like to develop a side income from the internet because there is no guarantees of being able to make money in this market. Initially, I wanted to create a blog on trading, more for personal growth and learning than as a business venture. Reading your book has encouraged me to look at different models to turn my interests into a profitable business. Thanks for the information and ill be sure to read your newsletter and site for invaluable advice.

Scott: I am in the process of reading "Internet Riches". I have attended a Online Stores presentation and have reviewed all of the materials sent to me by Jeff Paul. All are considerably more expensive than your suggested vendor program and I am wondering if, when becoming involved in your program, are there upsales that would equalize the programs cost that are not discussed prior to making the #299.00 investment? I really like what I see here but having been caught up in several internet deals that were never ending money pits that, upon involvement, required expensive step after step to reach a level of "success". I have numerous really good ideas for niche markets and want to commit my time, effort and money to a successful, cooperative, and capable program where I can achcieve my substantial income goals for myself and for mankind, a variety of charities and Church related avtivities.

Hi Scott-
I listened to your book by checking it out of the library. I have returned it.
I remember you mentioned a site where someone can post services but don't remember the name of the site. It was in the section where you were also talking about Craigslist. It's apparently a site like that, being free to list services in my area.
Could you tell me what that site is?
Thank you.

Michael - Dead end jobs suck. That's why I write, to help more people understand that there are alternatives. Have you listened to my recent podcast with Jonathan Fields? You might enjoy it.
Jimmy - Great that you have some time on the side available to devote to your new business. I particularly like your emphasis on "more for personal growth and learning than as a business venture." That's exactly how to turn a hobby into a successful business!
Charlie - If you are referring to the SiteBuildIt program that I recommend, there are no additional costs past the yearly hosting fee that I am aware of. That's one of the big reasons that I recommend it! They also offer a money-back guarantee if it's not for you.
Laura - Welcome to you, too. I'm glad that your local library had a copy of Internet Riches to share with you.
I think you are referring to Elance.com?
Best to all of you,

I've had my 3 websites for a couple of years now and I want to get more serious in making them successful. I realize our remodeling business is facing some rough times with this economy and I'm hoping that the internet sales will help out some.

Dear Scott:
Good day to you!
Straight to the point here - I became your subscriber [juicy.pie@hotmail.com] on 02-19-2009; and, I am nearly finishing reading your invaluable SEO info. Thanks for teaching!
Last week I assigned myself and used miranda.ma@live.com to sign up for your "Site Build It" info., at the same time, trying to modify my subscribed e-mail address from juicy.pie@hotmail.com to miranda.ma@live.com..... I guess I massed the whole thing up....
What should I do now in order to update my personal data; more importantly, still stay in as your IIBS Member? Please advise.

From this site it looks like you have an extremely wide range of audiance. As a virtual subcontractor working part-time I have to use my network time wisely. I would love the opportunity to share my story of how and why I chose to subcontract as a virtual assistant vs bringing on outside clients right away. You're shows are great and I love the fact you've continued with them. So many business just stop doing the podcasts.
