To become a successful entrepreneur, you need to think like a CEO. This means taking responsbility and initiative, instead of waiting for others to direct you.
I bring this up today because Shannon Cherry's Startup Spark blog recently picked up a great article by Kelle Sparta. In it Kelle talks about how an "employee" mindset needs to change to that of an "owner" if you're going to become a successful entrepreneur, as well as some additional thoughts on creativity and being unwilling to settle for "good" instead of "great".
The first point is the big one for me: Most folks have been trained to work for others. They are more accustomed to taking direction than giving it, especially to themselves.
As Kelle says of a class of real estate agent trainees: "They happily did what they were told, they just didn’t know how to see the environment from an owner’s perspective and assign themselves tasks based on that ownership."
To run your own business (or your own life!), it's up to you to take charge.

Thanks, Shannon and Kelle.
